My wife and I recently built a mountain home in the Washington Cascades using Pioneer Log Siding, Not only for the exterior walls but for the interior walls too. We were apprehensive at first because the material is so unique, Now we are thrilled. It really looks cool. A passerby stopped one day and asked, “Where did you get the reclaimed timbers?”

The interior is really sexy. Richard is very easy to work with, and gets the material to you on time and under budget. He also provides excellent advice on how to mount the siding and handle the trim. We couldn’t be more pleased.

We put all of our passion, diligence, creativity, and resources into building our home. Every detail, each contractor was chosen after exhausting research and deliberation. Our good fortune was finding the website for Pioneer Log Siding and making contact with Richard Gunst! We had built our home in the country, but mistakenly hoped that the cement board siding would help us achieve the rustic look we desired. Not the case!!! We were very disappointed and were looking for an alternative siding. In contacting Richard, he explained how we could simply replace our siding with the product that he and his wife Chris make to finally get an authentic look for our home.

Richard and Chris make the product which is absolutely beautiful and so authentic looking. When you call, you are treated as a friend, and it doesn't end when the product is shipped! Richard continues to work with my contractor and me every step of the way including the chinking and final design portions even when they don't involve his product!

Our project is not finished yet, but the transformation of our house is going great! I appreciate all of Richard's work as he helped us with the ordering process, actually made the siding, and even guided me through the shipping and chinking process! I feel lucky to know Richard--just hope to meet him and Chris in person some day!

My wife and I have built a cabin on 6 wooded acres in Herman Missouri. Wanting the feel of a historic rustic cabin, we had a hard time settling on a siding...nothing was satisfying us. Our thanks to Pioneer Log Siding, Richard & Chris Gunst. Their product did not disappoint! Our attempt to take a 1970’s ranch style home, back in time to the 1870’s (the beginnings of it’s historic ranch setting) was realized largely for the use of Pioneer Log Siding and Perma-Chink. The siding went up with ease; and while my husband was busy with ranch work, the contractor and I laid the chink without difficulty. We added a rusted steel roof, and combined with the 140yr old apple and pear trees surrounding the home, one would think the structure had survived time. Upon Richard’s suggestion we also used the wood on two interior walls (living and game rooms) to great advantage. The wood substantially warmed the larger game room and, surprisingly, expanded the appearance of the smaller living room! The PLS has also added, markedly, to the insulation properties of the home, and outbuildings (walk-in cooler and large tack barn), which have also been sided with PLS. We have now placed 3 separate orders with PLS, over as many years, and our experience has been consistent. Richard’s been straightforward, expedient and performed all he promised. Thank you, Richard and Chris for a great siding and service.

I just wanted to let you know how much we really like our Pioneer Log Siding. It is absolutely beautiful! We were a little worried when we saw the samples as they had a red tone to them but the finished product looks old and matches the interior beams we purchased from Trestlewood in Blackfoot, Idaho.

We are extremely happy with this siding and I will send you photos soon. They are just starting to put it up. We are screwing it on from inside so we don’t have to see the screws.

We love the Pioneer Siding on our cabin. I'm not a huge fan of log siding, so when my husband, Gary, found Pioneer Siding online, I was so excited and relieved not to fight him on the log look.
